While speaking on a podcast show, the actress was asked if Shoaib Akhtar had really threatened her.

Shobhankar Mishra, the host of the show, commented that the Pakistani cricketer had expressed his love for Sonali Bendre and wanted to marry her.

On this, Sonali Bendre said, 'I don't know how true this is. Fake news was still going on.'

The host said that Shoaib Akhtar had also jokingly said that he would 'kidnap' Sonali Bendre, to which the actress said, 'I don't know if he actually said that.'

The host of the podcast told Sonali Bendre that the Pakistani cricketer was a big fan of her, to which the actress thanked her and said, 'My career was made because of the love of the fans.'

These claims regarding Shoaib Akhtar were circulating in the media for many years, but in the year 2019, he clarified it in a video message.

The cricketer said in the video that there are also claims that he carries Sonali Bendre's picture in his wallet and wants to marry her, but it is all false.

'I have never met Sonali Bendre. I was never his fan. I have seen her in films and of course she is a beautiful woman but I have not been a fan of her.'

Shoaib Akhtar added, 'But when she (Sonali Bendre) started fighting cancer, I started liking her as a person because of how brave she is.'

'But my brother, I have nothing to do with them.'
